This version of
Moonstone is somewhat unusual because of her pose. Normal Hong Kong Moonstones
are made in the sam pose as Glory but this Italian variant is made in the
same pose as Moondancer...There are other differences too. Her eyes are
(of course) blue, not dark red, her symbol is metallic and painted, and
the front part of her mane (the dark pink) is darker than it is on the
original issue.
This Italian
version of Moonstone is more standard in design. It retains Moonstone's
original pose. However, like the other Italian version of Moonstone, she
has blue eyes, metallic symbol and a darker pink in her mane.
This is Italian Windy.
Unlike her Hong Kong counterpart, she is in Moondancer;s pose. Her symbol
paint is metallic purple and the pink in her hair is darker than ordinary
hasbro pink.

This is
the standard version of Starshine in Italian form. She has all the characteristics
of a Hong Kong made Starshine, except her symbol (very faint in this picture)
is not glittered but metallic, and the pink in her hair is somewhat darker.
Many thanks to Lieneke and Eva de Vries for the use of this image :)
This version of Starshine is more unusual than the other. Like the second
version of Parasol, this Starshine has the hair colours which are normally
associated with a year 3 Rainbow Pony like Confetti or Pinwheel. Her body
is very white and her symbol is oddly not gold metallic paint but a strange
aqua-bluish coloured paint which is not metallic. There are variations
on this symbol colour for this version of the pony. Her hair is silky.
The main difference
between this and the original Hong Kong Sunlight is again the darkness
of the pink in the hair and the metallic symbol. Her hair has a rough texture.
Italian Skydancer,
like the others has darker pink in her hair, but, rather strangely, her
symbol is painted on in green, rather than being metallic.
This pony,
believe it or not, is actually Parasol. Her body is a very pale pink, much
paler than the Hong Kong version, and her symbol is done in metallic paint.
Her hair is different completely because she has the same colour mane and
tail as a Rainbow Pony from year 3, and not a Rainbow Pony from year 2
which she should have.
This is
the standard Parasol in Italian form. Her hair is darker and her symbol
metallic paint. However she retains the original year 2 colour rainbow
hair. Her body is a pale pink.

The Italian
version of Tickle is pretty much identical to the Hong Kong version - however
there are a few notable differences, for example the symbol (very faint
in this scan) is metallic paint.
Thanks to Lieneke and Eva de Vries for the use of this scan :)
This, in my
opinion, is one of the most beautiful Italian ponies there is. Flutterbye
is a vibrant orange colour which I believe is brighter than the original,
and her symbol is in purple metallic paint. Her hair is the same colour
as the Hong Kong version.
Another beautiful
example of an Italian made Rainbow Pony, Starflower's body is a far brighter
blue than the Hong Kong one's is (She has about the same body tone as Sweet
Pop or Baby Stargaze) and her stars are in purple metallic paint. Her hair
is silky, not rough like with some Italian ponies, and her eyes are blue.
Italian Trickles
is very similar again to the Hong Kong version, but her symbol is quite
startlingly different in that her watering cans brown, not red, and are
metallic, not glittery. Her eyes are blue (not green) and her hair does
not fall in the same way as Hong Kong Trickles' does.
There is very
little which distinguishes this Confetti from the US version, however she
differs widely in pose from the European version. Her symbol here is metallic,
but the same colours as the original and her hair, though generally without
shape is the same colours.
Thanks to HTSCHMIDT for the use of this image :)
Italian
Pinwheel seems to me to be the hardest to find of all the year 3 italian
rainbow ponies - she certainly was the last one I had to find...her symbol
is painted with semi-metallic paint and her hair is normal year three colours,
although her body does seem to be a slightly darker shade of pink :)
