ITALIAN
PONIES
Well, here they are -
the beautiful and often crazy ponies Made In Italy. There are five pages
of them on this webpage including scans of at least 50 different Italian
ponies - that's a fair few ponies!
HOW TO SPOT AN ITALIAN
PONY....
Italian ponies are recognisable
of course by the *ITALY* indentation on their hoof but there are other
ways you can spot an Italian pony just by looking. All Italian ponies have
blue eyes, whatever their Hong Kong eye colour is, and if they should have
a glittery symbol it is generally painted with metallic or just regular
symbol paint. Also, there are some colour anomalies - many ponies have
two Italian forms in different poses, colours and styles - some of
these are shown on these pages. Also, ponies with dark pink in their hair
such as Heart Throb tend to have a much darker colour - while Gusty's dark
green hair is lightened quite considerably.
Italian ponies are often
smaller than Hong Kong or China made ponies, and perhaps not as well manufactured
but are just as much an important and well sought after part of the collection.
If you have an Italian
pony not featured on these pages and you have the facility to take a picture
or scan please send me the
image and help me improve this internet id site :)
Sometimes it is very difficult to tell with Italian ponies which pony they are intended to represent, as their body colours often differ widely from that of the Hong Kong original. For this reason, on my page I have identified each pony according to it's symbol, where applicable and not to it's colour scheme.
I am not going to try to
make out that I am any sort of expert on these variations. In the field
of italian ponies, there are no experts - we are all students together.
When I created this section of my site I was unaware of any other page
for italian ponies on the web, and even though today there are many wonderful
pages you can visit to see italian pony images, I'd like to think that
this one is the most comprehensive as regards images of ponies.
I got my first Italian
ponies (Peachy and Surprise) about three years ago, but I knew of their
existance a short time before after jealously gazing at another collector's
Italian Surprise, Starflower, Tootsie and Sparkler. Now we have a collection
of over fourty Italian ponies. Having bought many of these italian ponies
here in the UK at car boot sales I feel safe in calling this an *extension*
of the UK pony site, as Italian ponies are as much native to beautiful
Great Britain as they are to the continent of Europe. This site boasts
almost sixty images now, with more being added thanks to the kindness of
various italian collectors. I'd like to say here a special thankyou to
Lieneke & Eva de Vries, to the Delaneys, to Ebay sellers HTSCHMIDT,
IKLONKA and OKTOY, and to Raindrop for all their help with images and information
:)
Everybody who has sent
me an image or allowed me use of one I have credited beneath that image.
Any Italian ponies still on my wantlist are also marked on the pages...*grins*
So if you have any of 'em lmk!
If there is no *thanks
to* listed you can assume the scan is of my own pony, therefore you *must*
email me before using any of these scans.
Final note: If you're browsing this page with a MAC then the layout might screw up somewhat...both my cpus are PCs and I'm afraid they don't configure to MAC settings.
Ok, I'm done holding you
up now :)
